Hanumangundi waterfalls Kudremukh National Park

Hanumangundi or Soothanabbi waterfalls offers a nice relaxing ambience for those Mangaloreans who want to take a break from work during the weekend. The waterfall is located inside the Kudremukh National Park in Chickamagalure district of Karnataka. The waterfalls is close to 100 ft in height and one has to pay a modest entrance fees (Rs 20/- for adults and Rs 10/- for children) to get in. While planning for this trip one needs to be aware of the following:
1,There is a long flight of stairs to get to the bottom of the waterfalls and one needs to be fit to climb back up the close to 300 steps.
2,Swimming is prohibited at the falls.
3,There are no facilities for changing in the place.
4,There is a restroom at the ticket counter.
5,There are leeches in the area.
6,The rocks in the area are very slippery.
7,One needs to return back from the waterfalls by 4:30 PM, so we recommend that you get there early.
8,Distance from Mangalore 120 KM approx.
9,There are monkeys in the area so one needs to take care of personal belongings while at the waterfalls.
10,Stock up enough food before getting to the watrerfalls as there are no places to eat at nearby.
There are other locations of interest close to Hanumangundi that can be combined with the itinerary.
1, Kadambi Falls - Kudremukh National Park
2, Agumbe
3, Sringeri
4, Horanadu
5, Lakya Dam - Kudremukh National Park
We recommend that you leave Mangalore by 6:00 AM and get to Hanumangundi by 1:30 PM after visiting Agumbe and Sringeri and spend sometime at the waterfalls, after which you can visit Kadambi falls, Lakya Dam and Horanadu.
